13 Days Uganda and Rwanda tour

PrintThis is a combined Uganda and Rwanda safari where you will spend 9 days in Uganda on wildlife tour in Uganda’s top national parks including Queen Elizabeth Game Park, Murchison falls park and the Bigodi swamps. During the safari you will see lions, track chimpanzees, bird watch and go gorilla trekking. You will then transfer to Rwanda for more gorilla trekking before you will be taken on a tour of the Genocide memorial sites.

Day 1:  Kampala- Murchison Falls

After breakfast at your hotel leave Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park. Stop over for lunch at Masindi Hotel. On reaching the park in the afternoon you will take a nature walk to the top of the falls you will see where the Nile perfects its beauty. You will see how the calm Nile transforms into a thunderous roar of white water falling deep down about 45m. After, transfer to the Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Red chili Camp, Paraa Safari Lodge, Sambiya River lodge or Nile safari camp. Meal plan L & D

Day 2:  Game Drive and Launch cruise safari

Before the sun rises, wake up and have an early morning breakfast to go for a game drive safari in search for predators and early risers. You may see game like hyenas, giraffes, lions, birds, hartebeests, buffalos, elephants, primates and others. After the game drive return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon go for a launch cruise on the great Victoria Nile to the Bottom of the falls. The boat ride will reward you with water game like hippos, crocodiles, elephants and plenty of birds dashing and walking along the banks. Dinner and overnight at Red chili Camp, Paraa Safari Lodge, Sambiya River lodge or Nile safari camp. Meal plan B, L & D

Day 3: Transfer to Fort portal

After breakfast travel to Fort Portal town, through the villages and beautiful scenery.  Have lunch en route and you arrive late afternoon. In the evening you will have local guides for walks around the 1000 acre farm, to the Mahoma Waterfall, and the walks will take you around crater rims, alcohol brewing in oil drums, banana plantations, coffee terraces, plots of cassava, groundnuts, sorghum and millet. Dinner and overnight at the choice of your Hotel. Meal plan B, L & D

Day 4: Visit the Pygmies

Leave the hotel after breakfast for the crown and hot springs.  The drive is a 2-4 hours. Visit the pygmies in the pygmy villages located near the Ituri rainforest. This visit to the villages proves to be an appealing cultural experience.  You take a tour to the Hot Springs from where you will visit the Pygmies. Have a Picnic lunch while you experience the True Africa. Transfer back to Fort portal town. Dinner and an overnight at your Hotel. Meal plan B, L & D

Day 5: Chimp tracking, Bigodi swamp

After breakfast go for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park. During the trekking you will be able to see other primates like phoestes, Red-Colobus, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabey, bird species like butterflies and many small insects. After this wonderful experience, return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a swamp walk in the Bigodi area. Look out for different bird species. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge, chimp guest house or Kibale forest lodge. Meal plan B, L & D

 

Day 6: Transfer Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have a morning breakfast and depart for Queen Elizabeth national park via Kasese as you enjoy the drive. You may have a chance to view different fauna and flora, Rwenzori Mountain can also be seen at a glance along the way including the tea estates, dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge, samba safari or Jacana Safari Lodge. Meal plan B, L & D

Day 7: Game drive safari and launch cruise

After an early breakfast, leave for an early morning game drive safari, which may give you the  opportunities to view a wide range of wildlife such as elephants, giant forest hog, waterbucks, buffaloes, topi, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, and a variety of bird species. Return for lunch at the lodge, and then in the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise at Kazinga Channel with a high concentration of hippos, herds of buffaloes and elephants. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge, samba safari or Jacana Safari Lodge Meal plan B, L & D

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking and game drive safari

After an early morning breakfast, depart for early morning chimp tracking in the Kyambura gorge. You are likely to see a lot of chimpanzees and other primates. return to the lodge for lunch and  after go for an evening game drive safari in the Kasenyi area which is well known as the Kob mating grounds and therefore you will be able to see a lot of kobs and other antelopes like the situnga, and the hyenas. Other animals can also be spotted such as the elephants, lions, and many more. This takes 2-3 hour. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge, Jacana Safari Lodge or Simba Safari Lodge Meal plan B, L & D

Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, pass through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth called Ishasha famous for tree-climbing lions. Have a game drive thereafter. Proceed to Bwindi dinner and overnight at Kitandara, Gorilla Forest Camp, Gorilla resort or Buhoma community Bandas. Meal plan B, L & D

Day 10:  Gorilla Trekking

After a heavy early morning breakfast and short briefing from the guides depart for the gorilla trekking experience. As you enjoy both an amazing and exciting experience to you may spot other interesting bird species as well as other nocturnal primates like the bush buck and Gallegos. Return to Kitandara, Gorilla Forest Camp, Gorilla resort or Buhoma community Bandas Meal plan B, L & D

Day 11: Rwanda

Depart for Rwanda border crossing. You will stop over for a lunch break, and you will arrive at the Gorilla Nest resort or Kinigi guest house late afternoon. Your guide will brief you about the gorilla trekking for the next day. Dinner and over night at Mt Gorilla Nest Lodge or Kinigi guest house. Meal plan B, L & D

Day 12: Gorilla Trekking

Have an early breakfast after which proceed to the park offices for a briefing, then continue on for the Gorilla trekking. You are advised to bring hiking shoes, long pants and long sleeved shirts for the trek. A packed lunch and water is provided by the lodge. After the trek you will go for Hikes at the Dianne Fossey graves, then return for dinner and over night at the lodge. Meal plan B, L & D

Day 13: Kigali Genocide Memorial Site

After breakfast, you will go for Golden Monkey trekking then have lunch. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Kigali for a tour around the Genocide memorial sites and the Markets around.  Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel of your choice in Kigali. Meal plan B, L & DPrint
